Pinewood Derby

Well, we survived our first ever (Jeff Weaver family) Pinewood Derby. Taylor's car took 2nd place and he got the "best designed car" award. Jeff and Taylor spent HOURS making the car. The white pin stripes kept bleeding so they had to sand it down and repaint it SEVERAL times. It was a great experience and we learned a lot. 4 days before the Derby--after the car was already complete-- we found a book at Deseret Book on "Pinewood Derby Car Secrets". It will be great for next year. I suspect by the time Austin gets old enough to race we'll have it all figured out!

This is the car after the race, covered in graphite powder--as are Taylor and Jeff's hands.
Taylor's team in undefeated so far this year. We beat the "hard" team 22-11. It was a great victory!

This is Natalia singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" (with actions). Austin is highly entertained!

The kids started swimming lessons last week. After they get through they get to swim for a while. Colton and Taylor take turns playing with Natalia while I watch from the side. Surprisingly she has not drowned yet!

Austin is a pretty smiley guy about 90% of the time. He has been the best baby so far. I think the Lord knew we needed a really easy baby after Natalia!

This was the day Grandma left to go to Marsha's. They both were having fun.

We are finally getting used to Natalia's new hairstyle. The upside to it is, it's really easy to get her ready. It only takes about 2 minutes from start to finish to get her ready for church. The short hair is kind of growing on me.

Taylor's favorite pasttime is riding the 4-wheeler. He would ride it all day, everyday if we'd let him. Colton is plenty happy to just be the passenger.

Memorial Day

Dad was pretty tuckered out after cooking all the hamburgers and needed a little break. ;-)

Mom's job for the day was to keep the sun off of Austin. She's so resourceful.

This was the elderly section of the festivities. (It was also the best spot to be out of the wind.)

Natalia was playing defense against Colby (much to his dismay). All the boys whipped their shirts off and 2 seconds later, hers was off too. She really does NOT get that there is a difference between boys and girls.

The boys and their friends all teamed up against Jeff. Colby and Natalia were particularly helpful players!

Sand Dunes

This is the kiddos at the Sand Dunes. They found this swimming pool someone else built and had a great time in it.
Austin's first experience at the Dunes was not so fun. He didn't like it at all and was glad to leave.
Taylor really dug himself into a hole!

Kid stuff.

Natalia loves to hold Austin. He seems resigned to his fate of getting passed around all the time!

All the kids haning out. Again, Austin just endures all the manhandling. He's a pretty good sport about it all.

We went fishing last weekend down on the Rio Grande. One pike and one brown trout. Natalia had more fun than anyone!

Our little girl...???

Well, here is Natalia's latest and greatest, self-imposed hairstyle. She snuck out of bed the other night and got hold of a pair of scizzors and started trimming. I didn't realize what she had done until the next morning when she came in the kitchen looking awfully funny. I was very alarmed but she told me in a very matter-of-fact tone, "I tut my hair wiff my wed sizzos in my bed." AAHHH! After consulting the experts (Lisa), we decided there was really no other option but to shave it. So she now has a #3 buzz and thinks it's pretty funny. She keeps telling us she is a boy now and if we argue with her she pulls off her hat and says, "See my hair, I'm a boy." Her dad is more than a little distraught over the whole ordeal. Luckily there are lots of cute hats!!!
